Hótel Eldhestar was the first lodging in Iceland to receive the Nordic ecolable, the Nordic Swan

We drew inspiration from the colors and materials in Icelandic nature as well as from the culture. Genuine craftmanship and old tradition inspire the interior in a house built with ecological technology.

We have dedicated our hotel to the Icelandic horse – our most useful servant for centuries. On the walls there are old photos and texts that remind us of the importance of the horse through the ages.

Welcome to guesthouse Narfastadir guesthouse

 

Narfastadir are at road nr. 1 in Reykjadalur valley 5 km. south of the small village Laugar and close to lake Myvatn and the whale watching capital Husavik. The main building is a former sheep-stable and a barn which have been converted into elegant and comfortable facilities for tourists and the old farmhouse are also a guesthouse and has been renewed for that purpose. The old house was build in 1907 (front house made of timber) and 1925 (back house made of cement).

Höfn Visitor Centre

Vatnajökull National Park‘s visitor centre in Höfn, Hornafjörður, is located in the building Gamlabúð next to the harbour area. It houses an exhibition about the region‘s geology, glaciers and culture.

With Hornafjörður being an important stop-over for migrating birds, special attention is given to the bird life of the area. There is also a strong focus on climate change and the effect it will have in the future.

The visitor centre has a small shop, with emphasis on books, souvenirs and local products. The building has wheelchair accessibility.

Hotel in the Westfjords

Gamla guesthouse has 8 bright twin bedded rooms as well as 1 triple bedded room on two floors accommodating up to 19 guests. The house is in Icelandic terms rather old, dating back to 1896. Back then, it was built as a hospital, later served as a pension home, but was rebuilt entirely to fit it as a guesthouse.

All rooms have hand basin and bathrobes as well as television and complimentary wireless internet connection.

We have good facilities for disabled guests and one room specially designed for the physically challenged.

We have beds and other equipment to accommodate the young travelers. We love having them around.

On the ground floor, we have a nice little reading corner where guests can write the postcard to granny back home, plot the next hike or listen to travel stories of the other guests. Additionally, there is a computer connected to the internet, for your free use.

REYKJAVÍK IN ALL OF ITS CHARM

 

Hotel Reykjavík Centrum maintains the beauty and charm of bygone times.

Hotel Reykjavík Centrum is located on Aðalstræti, one of Reykjavík’s oldest streets, in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764. On either side of it, new buildings have been built in the likeness of their historic predecessors Fjalakötturinn and Uppsalir.

The hotel has 89 rooms, each fitted with modern amenities including a satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, small refrigerator, radio, iron and board, hair dryer, safe and tea and coffee set.

All the rooms are decorated in a light Scaninavian style.

The hotel is non-smoking. The view from the rooms is either across the inner harbour (Pollurinn) or north over to Snæfjallaströnd across the bay of Ísafjarðardjúp.
