FOOD

Shoping and eating in Iceland

The healthy restaurant guide

Buy food from the farmers market in Reykjavík

Brunnhóll is a family-friendly Guesthouse on the south east coast which takes pride in personal service and welcoming atmosphere.

Being a country Guesthouse, it gives visitors a fascinating insight into traditional farming methods in Iceland and daily life in the country.

Brunnhóll Guesthouse operates in the spirit of Agenda 21, with the emphasis on high-quality service and respect for the environment. The aim is endorse sustainable development, guided by a desire to protect the interests of the generation now living and generations to come.

Welcome to Haust, a unique restaurant centrally located in Reykjavík.

The menu focuses on fresh Icelandic produce cooked to perfection by some of Iceland's finest chefs. Haust is the Icelandic word for autumn—harvest time. Mindful of that, we prepare our menu based on the bounty of each season.

Our cooking is inspired by Iceland's magnificent nature—the winter's harshness and the white nights of summer. The Icelandic farmers are the true stars of the show. They work incredibly hard in rugged conditions to produce high-quality raw material that is transformed tastefully in the meals we serve. Because of it, we can exceed all expectations. We are grateful and proud of the resilient men and women whose produce enhances the flavor and aroma of each meal. We are guided by simplicity, quality, creativity and respect for the bounty drawn from Icelandic nature.

A Lobster restaurant on the south east coast

The restaurant Humarhöfnin is based on the ideology of preparing and serving local food. Our langoustine is caught by local boats operating from and landing on the pier you can see through our windows.

We buy our langoustine straight from the fishermen and producers in Höfn which guarantees freshness and quality and all other raw material is produced the region of Ríki Vatnajökuls.

We also decided to have few but good courses on the menu.

Hey Iceland

Planning a trip around Iceland can be complicated.
We make it easy.

Hey Iceland is an award-winning, leading expert in travel in the Icelandic countryside with over 30 years of experience.  We offer a wide range of self-drive packages, guided tours and day tours all year round in addition to a vast network of comfortable accommodation in scenic locations - over 170 carefully selected bed and breakfasts, country hotels, self-catering cottages, apartments and traditional farm stays all around Iceland.   The Icelandic Farm Holidays Association was founded by farmers in 1980 and the travel agency by the same name is still majority-owned by the farmers themselves, meaning that profits stay local.  As an Vakinn organisation, Hey Iceland is committed to sustainable tourism.

Hotel in the Westfjords

Gamla guesthouse has 8 bright twin bedded rooms as well as 1 triple bedded room on two floors accommodating up to 19 guests. The house is in Icelandic terms rather old, dating back to 1896. Back then, it was built as a hospital, later served as a pension home, but was rebuilt entirely to fit it as a guesthouse.

All rooms have hand basin and bathrobes as well as television and complimentary wireless internet connection.

We have good facilities for disabled guests and one room specially designed for the physically challenged.

We have beds and other equipment to accommodate the young travelers. We love having them around.

On the ground floor, we have a nice little reading corner where guests can write the postcard to granny back home, plot the next hike or listen to travel stories of the other guests. Additionally, there is a computer connected to the internet, for your free use.
