terms and information
All the trips we sell fall in to the category of being ecological, sustainable and/or slow travelling.
Tourism is by default not ecological, but the carbon print we leave behind when we travel, can be greatly reduced, for example by slowing down, and getting better in touhc with our environment. All our tour operators and partners follow our definition (our Ground Rules) of ecotourism.
On our website you can also find information on restaurants that serve local organic food, and there is also a list of farm restaurants serving food “from farm to plate”.
Bookings
All booking are on our website www.ecotourist.is You choose the trip, make the booking and pay with credit/debit card. I f you choose another payment option, you can contact us by email at info@ecotourist.is and we will get back to you soon.
When you have made your booking and payment, you will receive a voucher with a booking number and all travel arrangements. You arrive at the appointed time at the tour operators, with the voucher, and he takes care of you after that. Many oF them offer to pick you up at your hotel.
If any problems arise concerning your tour, we will advise you s soon as possible. Ecotourist does not sell or give out any information about its clients, and all payments are made trough safe and approved payment sites.
Changes in bookings
I you have to change your bookings for some reason, we will do our best to help. We can however not promise to change a tour if it starts within 24 hours, it depends on the terms of the tour operator. If you have to change a booking, please contact us by email at info@ecotourist.is
Cancellations
To cancel a booking, send us an email at info@ecotourist.is
If you have to cancel a booking at Ecotourist, the cancellation fee is 10% of the booking price.
Other cancellations terms at Ecotourist are as follows:
Cancellation two weeks before departure, 25% cancellation fee.
Cancellation less than two weeks before departure and more than one week before departure, 25% cancellation fee.
Cancellation less than one weeks before departure and more than 72 hours before departure, 50% cancellation fee.
Cancellation less than 72 hours before departure and more than 42 hours before departure, 75% cancellation fee.
Cancellation less than 48 hours before departure 1000% cancellation fee.
Guide languages
The tour guides languages are usually English/Icelandic. If the guide is in another language, it is usually specified in the tour information.
Equipment
Our tour operators usually provide all equipment needed, but if you are required to bring important gear with you, the specifics will make that clear.
Clothing
The Icelandic weather can be unpredictable at best, it can change many times a day. A saying goes: If you don’t like the weather, then wait a moment. To enjoy the weather changes pleas dress for it. Warm, all-weather outdoor clothing and good hiking booths.
Prizes and currency
The currency is always Icelandic kroner. The value of the kroner can fluctuate daily. There is a calculator on our website, which calculates the value between the various currencies. The value is calculated by Seðlabanki Íslands (Icelandic Reserve Bank), at the time of payment, and the payment is in EUR. All currency changes until full payment is reached is paid by the customer. Because of Icelandic currency restrictions, payment can only be made in EUR on the website, but a bank transfer can be made, if the customer wishes. Please contact us at info@ecotourist.is
Disclaimer
All tours and adventures are at the customers own risk. Ecotourist can not and will not be responsible for any accidents or incidents a customer encounter, while on a tour with the tour operator. All participants have to sign a disclaimer stating they are aware that all travel in Icelandic terrain may involve danger.
Insurance
We do not sell or provide insurance of any kind. We strongly recommend you to buy good insurance with full coverage, before you embark on any kind of travel.
Share your tour
Share your tour with us with your friends and family. Please share your photos and videos of your experience in Iceland with us. And please contact us if you are unhappy about something. Your comfort and well being is our main goal.
Liability
Ecotourist is a booking agency, selling trips from tour operators. Ecotourist is not responsible for any changes the tour operator may do concerning the tour, timetables, destination, rout or any other detail he alone is responsible for. Ecotourist is also not responsible for any cost that may occur, as the result of illness, injury, accidents, union strikes, and delays in flights en rout. Weather, volcanic eruptions and any other thing Ecotourist has no control over.
Legislation
Should any disagreement befall, it will only be dealt with in an Icelandic court.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by Icelandic Law and the Courts of the Republic of Iceland shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
